Interviews: Band on Band: The Knockdown / How Dare You
In a continuing effort to continue bring our readers original content with as little editorial interference as possible, Punknews is happy to premiere the first chapter of our new "Band on Band" feature. In these features two bands on opposing sides of a split release will take turns asking each other five questions.

In this edition, Victor Alvarez of The Knockdown and Elliot Meyer of How Dare You trade queries about band life, inspiration, fatherhood and other topics so engaging they end up breaking the five question rule in our very first segment. Both bands are part of a split 7" available from Kiss of Death.

No Sleep signs I Call Fives
I Call Fives No Sleep Records has added New Jersey's I Call Fives to its roster. The label will release the band's new EP, Bad Advice, on May 25, 2010. Once out, it'll follow up 2008's First Things First.

A new song entitled "Easy To Say States Away" can be heard at the band's MySpace page.
108 to release "18.61"
108 Krishnacore outfit 108 have announced their next release. The record is titled 18.61 and is due out April 13, 2010 via Deathwish. It is the follow-up to A New Beat from a Dead Heart which was released in 2007.

The album takes it's title from the 61st couplet of the 18th section of Bhagavad Gita. The Gita is one of the major religious texts of the Hindu faith and the record was recorded over a weekend in Boston, MA with Alex Garcia Rivera (ex-Give Up The Ghost) and later mixed by Kurt Ballou (Converge),

Two songs from the album can be found here.
You Me At Six: "Underdog"

We've posted some new reviews. You can check them out below: You can check out any of our 9096 reviews right here.
Foxy Shazam to premiere album through ChatRoulette
In an unusual way, Warner Music Group act Foxy Shazam will be premiering their new record via the popular/horrifying site, ChatRoulette [NSFW, probably]. The band explained the site:
It's this underground social website thing that connects strangers around the world through their webcams. whoever uses it can meet thousands of people everyday! It goes from kittens playing one second and then amateur porn the next. It can get pretty gross, yet adorable.

The band is hosting the stream on a ChatRoulette channel, but since the site is random, odds are you will receive something less musical and more hairy so be careful out there.
First reviews of Runaways film surface
Popular film geek site Ain't It Cool News have posted one of the first reviews of the forthcoming Runaways film starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. The review heaps praise on the biopic saying:

The film follows the evolution and too quick demise of THE RUNAWAYS, that amazing all girl concept band that didn't monkey around. You see a young Joan Larkin buy her first leather coat and suddenly - she became Joan Jett. Joan had a dream of an all girl band that would rock as hard, if not harder, than the boys. Kristen Stewart is amazing to watch - there's a shyness that reads as alienation perfectly in this film.

Dakota is playing Cherie Currie, who was 15 when she joined the band (same age as Dakota). Cherie didn't handle success very well... diving head first into the realm of drugs, sex and rock & roll. In the film, we don't see Dakota naked - so you pervs can forget screen grabs. Instead, the sex and promiscuity is shot in a very non-exploitive, but erotic manner. Her love scene with Kristen Stewart will probably rot a lot of brains - and Dakota is used perfectly to show something more than what Cherie Currie's public image was. Let's face it, Cherie was the highly sexualized fetishized Jail Bait rocker of the group.

Kristen and Dakota are amazing to watch together in this film. THE RUNAWAYS is a fantastic film. It premieres at SXSW and shortly thereafter in theaters nationwide. Like the original RUNAWAYS, these girls and this movie rock.

Another trailer has been posted for the film and that can be found via YouTube.
